When A Liberal Is Too Liberal for CNN

In Brief:

CNN has announced Brian Stelter is parting ways with their organization.

“CNN will end its Reliable Sources program on Sunday, August 21st,” a spokesperson for the network said in a statement. “As a result, Brian Stelter will leave the company.”

The Background:

Stelter is known for being the liberal of the liberals. He famously defended CNN for its handling of Chris Cuomo to fellow liberal Stephen Colbert, only for the network to fire Cuomo weeks later for the very behavior Stelter was defending. Stelter also went all-in on Russiagate, fawned over Andrew Cuomo's coronavirus response, and once memorably played cleanup for race hoaxer Jussie Smollett.

However, it would appear that the new management Chris Licht (thanks to the scandals and general unsavoriness of Jeffrey Toobin, CNN’s legal analyst) has decided that kind of lying, falsification, and vitriol isn’t good for their ratings with Stelter’s Reliable Sources having the lowest ratings of all CNN programs.

Notable Quotes:

"Stelter departs CNN having done damage to both the network's reputation and the wider media's reputation like few others could do. Positing himself as a media reporter looking to help explain the journalism profession to the public and show how stories are made and shaped, Stelter actually exposed the national press for the knavish liberal partisans that they've become by inadvertently displaying their arrogance and childish refusal to accept even mild outside criticism." - Curtis Houck
