VP Harris Labeled "Underused"

In Brief:

On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris responded to accusations that she was being “underused” by the Biden administration. She initially dodged the question and pivoted to say that the administration is “getting things done” that will “have [a] direct impact on the American people.” When pushed further, Harris said she did not feel underused or misused.

The Background:

Biden’s administration has been nearly 100% ineffective since he took office in January.

Inflation is through the roof, the withdrawal from Afghanistan was a complete disaster, and illegal border crossings are at an all-time high. The administration has continued to blame all its problems on Trump, Republicans, or the pandemic.

And now, some Democrat leaders are questioning whether or not Biden is using his Vice President Kamala Harris effectively.

On Good Morning America last Thursday, George Stephanopoulos told Harris that California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis and other Democrats have “expressed some frustration because they think you can be more helpful than you’ve been asked to be.”

Harris responded to the claim by mentioning the infrastructure bill that was just passed. She chose not to directly address the question of whether she is being underutilized, until Stephanopoulos pressed her.

“So you don’t feel misused or underused?” Stephanopoulos asked. “No, I don’t,” Harris awkwardly laughed.

Harris has been put in charge of the southern border crisis which continues to be a disaster as hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants flood into the United States.

Notable Quotes:

“I’m very, very excited about the work that we have accomplished. But I am also absolutely, absolutely clear-eyed that there is a lot more to do, and we’re gonna get it done.” - Vice President Harris
