On Sunday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said in an interview that he would hire the border patrol agents who were wrongfully accused of whipping illegal immigrants if President Biden follows through with his promised punishment. The border patrol agents have been vindicated after the photographer who took the photos said it never happened and video was released of the incident showing no migrants were whipped. Abbott also said that Biden and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas were “in dereliction of duty” over the border crisis.
The crisis at the southern border has continued to grow as thousands of illegal immigrants flow into the country.
The Biden administration has further hamstrung law enforcement by not allowing them to use horses after the alleged whipping incident. The horses have been used in the past to patrol areas of the border that cannot be accessed by motorized vehicles.
Gov. Abbott of Texas said that the agents will have a job with his state if they are fired, saying, “I will hire you to help Texas secure our border.”
Abbott is unwilling to take the “dereliction of duty,” stating that the Biden administration has “abandoned any pretense of securing the sovereignty of either Texas or the United States by having these open border policies.”
Gov. Abbott deployed hundreds of state police officers to the border last week and “illegal immigration stopped.”
The state of Texas has also started to enforce a policy of jailing illegal immigrants who are caught by Texas authorities.
