Sanctuary City Boots Vets for Migrants

In Brief:

Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams claims his city is overwhelmed with the influx of illegal migrants. So much so that he is shipping them out by the busload.

The Background:

Mayor Adams has decided the recent arrival of 60,000+ migrants over the last few weeks is more than his sanctuary city can handle. So he has taken to loading them into buses and spreading them out over the rest of the state. However, the repercussions of that have been devastating.

Due to the arriving busses of migrants, a group of homeless veterans was booted from the hotel they’d been provided while awaiting more permanent housing. Some of the veterans were Vietnam vets, while others include a 24-year-old man who recently returned from serving in Afghanistan and is in much need of help. Another is a 30-year-old veteran trying to reintegrate back into private society after the chaos of helping during the Afghanistan pullout last year, one of Biden’s larger fiascos.

Sharon Toney-Finch, a disabled veteran herself, as well as CEO of the Yerik Israel Toney Foundation, stated that while there is no proof, reports are coming in that the swap out of veterans for migrants is due to the money to be made. The hotels have a deal with the veterans and organizers to only charge $88 a night while the reports coming in from New York state that tax dollars are paying around $190 a night, part of an estimated $4.3 billion migrant price tag set to go through Spring 2024, reports the New York Post.
