Report: Michael Bloomberg Makes Moves to Run for President

Though he hasn’t made an official announcement, Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has made some preparations for a 2020 Democratic presidential bid.

The Background:

Michael Bloomberg is a billionaire who has used to fortune to influential political policies toward an extremely progressive bent.

Politico reports: “Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is preparing to file paperwork to qualify for the Democratic presidential primary in Alabama, ahead of a Friday deadline. The move would be a first step toward a national campaign, though Bloomberg has not made a final decision to run.

Causes Bloomberg has expressed support for in the past include: banning large sodas, gun bans, and limiting the freedom of the press.

Why It Matters:

The United States would change drastically if Bloomberg’s vision were to be realized: liberties would be stripped, and a nanny state would take hold in full force.
