Planned Parenthood has stated that it is working with the Biden-Harris transition team. The organization states that it expects to see an executive order in the first one hundred days that would signify the Biden administration’s commitment to Planned Parenthood’s agenda. The Trump administration removed significant funding from Planned Parenthood, and Biden is expected to return taxpayer funding to the organization.
According to the National Review, Planned Parenthood invested over $45 million to Democratic candidates during the 2020 election cycle. Planned Parenthood’s vice president of government relations and public policy, Jacqueline Ayers, stated that they hope Biden will ensure that government funding makes up for the last several years of being "woefully underfunded."
During Trump’s administration, abortion providers lost significant funding (although Planned Parenthood continued to receive nearly half a billion dollars). President Trump blocked abortion services from being provided or promoted under the Title X program. Under Biden, this action will likely be reversed.
Biden has stated that he will reverse the "Mexico City policy," which prevents funding for international organizations that provide or promote abortions, according to The Hill. According to LifeNews, "The [Mexico City] policy ensures U.S. funds continue to go to health care, humanitarian relief, and even family planning... Ultimately, that cost Planned Parenthood’s international abortion company $100 million."
Biden also plans to prevent states from defunding Planned Parenthood on their own accord. Planned Parenthood has stated that its biggest focus is placing individuals in Biden’s administration who will push the policies and agenda of Planned Parenthood.
"We know that personnel is policy. So we're making sure that those positions are filled with sexual and reproductive health champions." - Alexis McGill Johnson, President of Planned Parenthood
"Planned Parenthood spends millions targeting pro-life candidates and helping Democrats get elected, then Democrats turn around and staff up with pro-abortion ideologues who will funnel federal money right back into Planned Parenthood’s pocket." - National Review
