Gym owners are reportedly upset to learn that government gyms have been allowed to remain open despite COVID-19 shutdowns.
San Francisco gym owners are angry after finding out gyms in government buildings have been accessible to city employees for months, despite continued closures of private gyms.
"It's shocking, it's infuriating," said Daniele Rabkin from Crossfit Golden Gate. "Even though they're getting exposed, there are no repercussions, no ramifications? It's shocking."
Rabkin said she had reached out to police officers in the area, offering her gym since the station gym was supposedly closed. A text exchange revealed that they had access to their station gym and that safety and cleaning protocols had already been established.
“It just demonstrates that there seems to be some kind of a double standard between what city employees are allowed to do and what the residents of San Francisco are allowed to do.”
