Left-Wing Groups Protest at Homes of SCOTUS Justices

In Brief:
On Wednesday, left-wing activist groups gathered for protests outside of the homes of the six conservative-leaning Supreme Court Justices Alito, Thomas, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, Barret, and Roberts. The protests were part of a group’s, named “Ruth Sent Us”, “walk-by Wednesday” event. Pro-abortion protests also happened around the country including in Los Angeles, where protestors clashed with police.

The Background:
When a Supreme Court draft opinion leaked on Monday evening calling for Roe v. Wade to be overturned, left-wing activist groups immediately began mobilizing. Their mobilization has included attempts to intimidate Supreme Court Justices at their homes.

The left-wing group “Ruth Sent Us” posted the street names of the “6 extremist justices” on their website in an attempt to drive protest traffic to their homes.

The group also asked people to “let us know” if “you’d like to join or lead a peaceful protest.”

The Wall Street Editorial Board said they fear “some abortion fanatic could decide to commit an act of violence to stop a 5-4 ruling. It’s an awful thought, but we live in fanatical times.”

It is still unknown who released the draft opinion and there may be an FBI investigation to uncover the leaker.

Notable Quotes:

“Showing up at the justices’ homes to harass them is absolutely beyond the pale and shows the lengths to which they are willing to go in order to undermine the Court’s independence.” - Carrie Severino, president of Judicial Crisis Network
