Jack Posobiac, the senior editor at Human Events and a Turning Point USA show host, tweeted on Wednesday that Rep. Nancy Pelosi was telling people she would not run for reelection. The tweet postulated that Pelosi “doesn’t want to be tied to 2022” possibly referring to the “red wave” of Republican wins many believe will happen next November. Pelosi has not made any public comments about whether or not she will run.
Many political commentators see a “red wave” happening in November 2022. The recent elections showcased dozens of Republicans either winning their races or nearly beating Democrats in normally blue states.
In New Jersey alone, a Republican truck driver won against the sitting Democrat State Senate president. And a Republican candidate for governor nearly beat out the highly-favored Democrat incumbent.
The Democrat Party is on its heels heading into 2022. Joe Biden is extremely unpopular with approval ratings hovering well below 50%.
And there are whispers that one of the most powerful Democrats may not run in 2022.
Posobiac hinted on Twitter that he was hearing that Nancy Pelosi was telling people she wouldn’t run in 2022. It's not clear whether that is because of the Republican wins on November 2nd or if she is simply retiring.
Pelosi has not announced any 2022 decisions and has told CNN’s Jake Tapper that she needs to talk to her family before making any decisions.
