In Brief:

Trump outranked Obama in a poll for America’s most admired man, according to Gallup, after twelve years of Obama achieving a higher rank. It is the tenth time that Trump has made the list of the most admired men in America. This year he took the top spot. The survey results, gathered in December, placed him higher than Biden and Obama, despite the outcome of the 2020 Presidential Election.

The Background:

According to The Hill, President Donald Trump outranked Barack Obama on a list of the most admired men in America. Former President Obama held the title for twelve years in a row, but was tied with Trump last year.

Since 1988, Trump has made the list ten times. In comparison, Joe Biden has made the list twice. 48% of Republican Americans named Donald Trump as their most admired man. Obama is down 9% in popularity among Democrats this year, receiving 32% of the votes.

Gallup noted in February 2020, that 60% of Americans stated that they felt they were better off after having Trump as president, in comparison to 45% of people saying the same about Obama during his term in office.

Notable Quotes:

“Trump's success comes despite his election defeat to Biden and his continued push against the outcome, which has thus far failed.” -Newsweek

“Among Republicans surveyed, 48 percent of respondents named Trump as their most admired man. No other public figure got more than 2 percent Republican support, according to Gallup.”  - The Hill
