A federal judge has ordered President Trump to release his tax returns; the president has appealed the ruling.
There has been an ongoing investigation into whether President Trump’s company broke any laws in regard to dealings with porn star Stormy Daniels, who claimed she had an affair with Trump. Trump since requested a subpoena demanding access to his tax returns be delayed.
Earlier today, Judge Victor Marrero of Manhattan federal court “rejected a bold argument from President Trump that sitting presidents are immune from criminal investigations, a ruling that allowed the Manhattan district attorney’s office to move forward with a subpoena seeking eight years of the president’s personal and corporate tax returns,” The New York Times reports.
Trump’s lawyers have temporarily blocked the order through a court-approved appeal.
Why It Matters:
Democrats have been looking for dirt on Trump since before he took office. The president’s opponents will likely use his tax returns to smear the president further and stymie his efforts to enact conservative policies.
“The Radical Left Democrats have failed on all fronts, so now they are pushing local New York City and State Democrat prosecutors to go get President Trump. A thing like this has never happened to any President before. Not even close!”
