 'Economic Anxiety' Rises Under Biden

In Brief:
As inflation sweeps the nation, economic anxiety has skyrocketed amongst American voters. Not only are prices rising, especially gas prices, but the US gross domestic product measurement has slowed to a halt, too. And a majority of Americans, 51%, blame Joe Biden for the soaring gas prices despite the President’s insistence that the prices have been caused by Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Background:
According to a new Gallup poll released last Wednesday, Americans are not comfortable with the current economy and they are not believing the Biden administration’s claims about why things are the way they are.

According to Gallup, in April, 39% of Americans named an economic issue or the economy in general as their primary concern.

During the Trump administration, before COVID-19 hit, that number was at 11% in December of 2019. 11% broke the previous record of 13% that was set in 1999. In fact, the number steadily dropped during the Trump administration from 31% in mid-2016.

In even worse news for the Biden administration, Rasmussen reported that 51% of Americans blame record-level gas prices on the President. 26% blame it on the oil companies and 15% blame it on Putin.

80% of Americans also rate the economy as “poor” or “fair”. Only 2% say it's excellent.

These numbers spell trouble for a Democrat party that has slim majorities in Congress.
