A report has been released showing that late-term and full-term babies are being left to die after failed abortions. “For the calendar year of January 1, 2021, through December 31, 2021, 5 abortion procedures resulting in a born-alive infant were reported,” the Health Department of Minnesota report detailed. Yet all five died with only two being reported to have received “comfort care,” a term that can be loosely interpreted.
This report comes from just one state. Numbers are assumed to be much higher as all investigations and interviews have pointed to higher numbers of born-alive infants during late-term abortions. Such as Dr. Kermit Gosnell’s facility and former employees.
Congressional Democrats have largely refused to pass legislation that protects born-alive babies from botched and failed abortions.
In recent years, Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) has attempted to push the “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act” through Congress.
This act would protect and mandate doctors' attempts to save born-alive infants. Currently, doctors are legally allowed to let babies die after abortion procedures. This would criminalize anyone who “intentionally performs or attempts to perform an overt act that kills a child born alive.”
“If an abortion results in the live birth of an infant, the infant is a legal person for all purposes under the laws of the United States, and entitled to all the protections of such laws. Any infant born alive after an abortion or within a hospital, clinic, or other facility has the same claim to the protection of the law that would arise for any newborn, or for any person who comes to a hospital, clinic, or other facility for screening and treatment or otherwise becomes a patient within its care.” - Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act
