Gov. Ron DeSantis (FL-R) gave a passionate speech Wednesday, blasting “little elf” Dr. Anthony Fauci for the permanent damage caused by lockdowns. He stated that it was time to “chuck the little elf across the Potomac!”
“People like Fauci saying that his lockdowns didn’t cause any permanent damage to any young kids. I got news for you. It did, and we are going to reap those rewards across the whole country for years and years and years because they treated kids so poorly,” DeSantis said.
His remarks come as Fauci continues to dig his heels in, claiming that lockdowns did not “forever irreparably” damage anyone. He also suggested that he is not responsible for lockdowns, prompting Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) to accuse him of backpedaling and lieing. “He’s been blatantly dishonest throughout,” Paul said.
Fauci is saying that he didn’t pass a law forcing the schools to be shut down, but his advice was transmitted to the public health doctors in all the Democrat states, and the Democratic governors (as well as some Republican governors) shut down the schools. He was in favor of locking the schools down, but now is trying to backtrack it, Breitbart reports.
DeSantis further asked why Fauci is not being prosecuted for lying to Congress.
Fauci has refused to admit that he lied about the National Institutes of Health funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, despite clear evidence showing otherwise. Fauci has instead opted to change the definition of gain-of-function to, as Sen. Paul said, to cover up the lie.
