Democrats have created a list of individuals who have funded or worked for Donald Trump, going all the way back to 2016. These Democrat extremists are pledging to hold Trump staff (and possibly, rank and file supporters) accountable, punishing them for the supposed injustices done during the Trump administration. Republicans and conservatives have labeled the project as a blacklist, and warn that creating a registry such as the Trump Accountability Project is another step toward a socialist regime.
According to Politico, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) tweeted, “Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future? I foresee decent probability of many deleted Tweets, writings, photos in the future.” Ocasio-Cortez received immediate pushback, but responded by adding, “Lol at the ‘party of personal responsibility’ being upset at the idea of being responsible for their behavior over last four years.”
Soon after her initial tweet, Democrats responded with the Trump Accountability Project. The Post Millennial writes that the Trump Accountability Project is a compilation of names involved with the Trump campaign and administration, from appointees to low-level campaign staffers. Critics state that this blacklist will affect the future and careers of millions of Americans. Those involved with and endorsing the project have shared it on social media, stating that those who are on the list should be publicly shamed and suffer consequences for their affiliation with the Trump campaign and administration.
“We must never forget those who furthered the Trump agenda. We should welcome in our fellow Americans with whom we differ politically. But those who took a paycheck from the Trump Administration should not profit from their efforts to tear our democracy apart. ...The world should never forget those who, when faced with a decision, chose to put their money, their time, and their reputations behind separating children from their families, encouraging racism and anti-Semitism, and negligently causing the unnecessary loss of life and economic devastation from our country’s failed response to the COVID-19 pandemic.” - Trump Accountability Project
"’The Democrats will face significant backlash for this and as per usual, they’ve gone way too far,’ said a former senior administration official. ‘Making a list of your political enemies and promising that they will get payback and people will go after them because they worked for a different political party is literally fascism.’” - Politico
