A Harvard affiliated hospital is backtracking after one of its pediatric psychologists claimed that children know “from the womb” if they’re transgendered, ironically affirming that personhood does indeed begin in the womb.
This same hospital recently came under fire, and in turn modified language on its website, for stating that it performs gender-affirmation surgeries on minors. The website now states teens must be 18 years old to be eligible for surgery.
Boston Children's Hospital posted a video on its YouTube channel in August where a psychologist explains that "a good portion" of children she sees at the hospital's Gender MultiSpecialty Service (GeMS) clinic know their gender identity "from the womb," Fox News reports.
However, this begs the question, how can an individual know who they are “from the womb” if they are only a blob of tissue cells? How can you argue for the destruction of this person up until birth if you are also arguing that they know who they are at birth? The stance the hospital takes, while absurd, affirms the truth that science and common-sense people know: fetuses have personhood.
The hospital's website states the GeMS clinic treats "gender-diverse children, teens, and young adults" with "gender-affirming care" that includes "physical and psychological assessment, ongoing medical care, and additional referrals as needed."
Breitbart News previously revealed that Carswell has received thousands of dollars in compensation for consulting on behalf of Endo Pharmaceuticals, a company that makes a drug used off-label as a puberty blocker for children considered to be transgender.
It should also be noted an academic paper, authored in part by Carswell, had to be corrected after it was incorrectly asserted that the researchers had no conflict of interest.
The video has since been deleted from the YouTube channel of Boston Children’s Hospital.
“A child will often know that they are transgender from the moment that they have any ability to express themselves. They knew from the minute they were born, practically.” –Dr. Jeremi Carswell, the Director of the Gender Multispeciality Service at the Boston Children’s Hospital.
