Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old caught up in a violent riot in Kenosha, Wisconsin, is charged for murder for allegedly shooting two people while standing guard over businesses that were being attacked, and Joe Biden has implied, without evidence, that Rittenhouse is a white supremacist.
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden on Thursday linked an alleged shooter in Kenosha, WI to “militia” groups and suggested the groups were related to “white supremacy.”
“I don’t know enough to know whether that 17-year-old kid did exactly what he did, but allegedly he’s part of a militia coming out of the state of Illinois,” Biden said in reference to Kyle Rittenhouse, who has been charged with first-degree intentional murder for a shooting in the city on Tuesday. “Have you ever heard this president say one negative thing about white supremacists? Ever heard it?"
Some early reports suggested Rittenhouse was tied to militia groups allegedly in the city, but to date, evidence of such a connection hasn’t been confirmed.
