Democratic nominee Joe Biden has selected California AG Xavier Becerra as Secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services. Becerra has a track record of voting for partial-birth abortions and has defended Planned Parenthood in court. AG Becerra has consistently pushed for the embrace of late-term abortions and has gone against state policies in order to protect an aggressive abortion agenda.
Joe Biden has presented himself in name as a moderate Democrat, but the picks for his administration prove otherwise. Among the latest selections for a Biden administration is Xavier Becerra, California Attorney General. AG Becerra follows in the footsteps of Kamala Harris in his aggressive stances concerning abortion and pro-life groups. Biden plans to nominate Becerra as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
According to The Federalist, Becerra served in Congress for over twenty years, and voted for taxpayer-funded abortions and against a ban on partial-birth abortions. He prosecuted pro-life activists who went undercover to record Planned Parenthood in 2017, along with numerous other cases defending legalized abortion. Becerra was also behind the case in the Supreme Court that involved forcing Little Sisters of the Poor to provide contraceptives to celibate nuns. The Trump administration has provided religious and moral exemptions from many mandates involving contraception and other health issues, but a Biden administration with Becerra as head of the HHS would not do so.
“If confirmed, Becerra would have a key role in crafting public health policy during a pandemic—but also would be making policy decisions on controversial social issues with far-reaching consequences.” - Angelus News
