The White House and Speaker of the House have rolled out new measures to push the narrative that COVID-19 is still a threat to the country. Biden is requiring all federal employees to be vaccinated or submit to extremely strict safety rules. Pelosi, on the other hand, is reinstating the mask mandate in the House side of the Capitol building. The Capitol police announced that they will be arresting any aides or visitors that try to enter the building and refuse to wear a mask.
Many hospital employees have had to make a tough decision about continuing employment after their hospital mandated the COVID-19 vaccine. Now, President Biden is bringing that policy to the over 2 million federal employees across the country.
If workers do not wish to be vaccinated, they will require a series of regulations to gain entry to their workplace.
Speaker Pelosi has done a similar thing at the Capitol building. Her new mask mandate excludes congressional aides and visitors from making rounds at the Capitol building without a mask. Members of the House have also stated that they do not plan on wearing masks, even after the order goes into effect.
The Capitol police have already said they will arrest those who ignore warnings about mask-wearing at the Capitol.
While the Capitol physician recommended the change, many members of Congress feel like it is more of a power grab than a health guideline.
"Madam Speaker, your insane power grab is showing. Today I’m not wearing a mask outside of the chamber b/c I follow science — not Pelosi. Come and get me." - Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) on Twitter
